Dialogue on AI: Shaping the Future of Artificial Intelligence Together

1 minutes to read 26. January 2026

As part of the High-Tech Agenda Germany (HTAD), a dialogue (“Partnerdialog”) on the key technology artificial intelligence (AI) took place on 23 January 2026. The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), together with relevant stakeholders from industry, science, politics and the federal states, set the strategic course for the development and application of AI in Germany.

The goal: AI as a driver for innovation and value creation

The HTAD dialogues are a key instrument for working with experts to develop roadmaps for the six priority key technologies. The focus is on concrete implementation paths to achieve the ambitious technology and value creation goals of the HTAD. Through intensive exchange in several dialogue formats, all relevant perspectives are incorporated and a broad spectrum of competencies and interests is covered.

Research challenges for AI-based value creation

A central topic of the dialogue was specific challenges, particularly with regard to the capabilities of AI. These represent an important prerequisite for expanding the use of AI in the economy and thus an increase in AI-based value creation. In addition, current development trends in national and international AI research were examined, which may offer potential solutions. For this purpose, around 100 experts from science, industry and civil society discussed the issues in mixed small groups and developed ideas for concrete measures that could be implemented quickly. The results of the dialogue will be incorporated into the ongoing development of the HTAD's flagship measures roadmaps – for example, into the planned measures to strengthen cutting-edge AI research and to launch transfer flagship projects.

Further dialogues on the HTAD's key technologies will take place in the coming weeks.
