Dialogue on Fusion as a Key Technology

1 minutes to read 12. January 2026

On 12 January 2026, a dialogue (“Partnerdialog”) on fusion power took place as part of the High-Tech Agenda Germany (HTAD). In theses dialogues, the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) works with relevant stakeholders from industry and science, other ministries and the federal states to develop roadmaps for the six key technologies of the HTAD. This is how we are developing implementation paths to achieve the technology and value creation goals, thus ensuring the successful implementation of the HTAD. The exchange of ideas within the framework of the partner dialogues is intended to involve all interested experts in the process and therefore cover a broad spectrum of expertise and interests.

This partner dialogue focused on the hubs announced as flagship measures of the HTAD, in which the expertise of science and industry is to be pooled and the seeds of future value chains are to be sown. Discussions were held with those present on the basis of a key issues paper (only German) published on the HTAD website, which outlines the framework conditions for the hubs. The partner dialogue was part of the 7th Fusion Forum, in which leading figures from research, the start-up scene, industry and politics gathered in Garching to exchange ideas on energy generation through nuclear fusion.

Further partner dialogues on the key technologies of the HTAD will take place in the coming weeks.
